After you press the button you’ll hear a click. After the click turn the knob clockwise (right) to lock it.
If for some reason the front door lock doesn’t work, there is a small lock box on the post of the gazebo. As you walk into the gazebo it will be on the first pole to the right. The code is the same as the code provided for the door. The key in the lock box will open the side door going into the kitchen.
The keys are the same for all doors except the front door. There is a key hanging beside each door inside the house. The same key also opens the storage building in the back yard.
There is a propane heater and tank in the storage building if you want to put that on the deck with the chairs/tables if it gets cool at night.
When You Arrive
-
The thermostat is set on 73 for air conditioning and 65 for heat. If that is not comfortable you can adjust it using the thermostat, but you’ll need to select “Permanent Hold”. Otherwise, it will revert to 73/65 settings at 7:30am and 11:00pm every day.
-
Check the sink to see if the water is off. If it is, the valve to turn the water on is in the furnace room in the basement. It is high on the back right corner of the room as you enter. There is tape on the wall to show which way is on/off.
-
Under the deck there are 2 large trash cans. Please make sure you use the large trash bags in the box on the top shelf of the pantry in the hall for these trash cans. Please do not put trash in the trash cans without a bag in them.
When You Leave
-
No need to reset the thermostat. It will be reset remotely after you leave.
-
Turn off the water using the valve in the basement. After you turn off the valve turn on the faucet in the basement bathroom until water just trickles out. Then turn the faucet off.
-
Make sure all blinds are closed in all the rooms.
-
Check all doors to make sure they are locked.
-
Take the sheets off the beds and any dirty towels and put them in the basket on top of the washer/dryer.
-
If you put the plastic chairs in the yard for the fire pit, please stack those back under the deck near the oil and propane tanks.
-
If using the maid service leave $125 for house cleaning on the kitchen table either in cash or as a check made payable to Perfection Girls. If using the maid service then leave the water turned on and they will turn it off after they clean
-
Please take ALL TRASH with you when you leave. The local dump is open Monday – Saturday from 7am – 7pm. It is about 10 minutes away from the house. (Right on Buck Mountian Road, right on Ray Taylor Road, left on Beaver Creek, right on 194, right on 221, dump will be on your left after you pass with Hwy 194 about 5 miles or so down 221.)
Gas Logs
-
Gas logs are controlled with the remote located in the box on the coffee table. The remote to use just has on and off buttons.
-
Point the remote towards the fireplace and press “on” to start the fire and press “off” to turn it off.
-
It works best if you run the ceiling fan in the den while the logs are on.
TV
-
It is cable TV. Use the cable remote. HD channels start above channel 1000.
-
Amazon Fire TV is also available by switching the input on the TV. You have to turn on the Amazon Fire TV Stick by pressing the Home button on the Amazon remote (also located in the box on the coffee table). Hulu and Netflix are available for movies and TV shows.
-
The TV in the Den upstairs and in the basement should work the same.
Music
-
There is a Bose internet speaker above the cabinets in the kitchen. The remote to turn it on is located in the wooden box on the coffee table.
-
Aim the remote at the speaker and press the on button. There are preset stations using 1-6 buttons if you like country music
-
If you want to play your own music you will need to install the Bose Soundlink app on your phone. Once you do that you need to connect to the speaker called “Cabin Music”. If using an iPhone you should be able to choose that speaker in settings for sound. Once you do that you can use whatever app you normally use on your phone to play music over the speaker.
-
There is a Bluetooth speaker in the basement (Big Jambox) that you can also pair to your phone for music using the Bluetooth connection on your phone. You can take that speaker outside if you want music out there. (Please note, that speaker IS NOT waterproof)
Outdoor Fire Pit
-
Feel free to build a fire outside in the fire pit…just be cautious of the wind. It can get strong at times but we dug it deep so it should be fine.
-
Use the wood under the tarp. The wood that is not covered has not seasoned and is not yet split.
-
There is kindling next to the wood pile and plenty of small sticks in the woods.
-
There is fire starter in the furnace room in a box on the stove.
-
There are plastic chairs under the deck that can be used around the fire pit.
-
Water faucet is under the deck and hose is in the storage building (same key as house doors)one. You can take that speaker outside if you want music out there. (Please note, that speaker IS NOT waterproof)
Griiling
-
The Grill on the deck is the type that won’t flare up, but you do have to watch what you are cooking. It gets pretty hot. The instructions say it only takes 2-3 minutes per side to cook a hamburger. It is new to us so I don’t have a lot of experience with it. I thought it was like the Holland (indirect heat) grill…but it seems to cook a lot hotter and faster than a Holland grill. You’ll want to man the grill and watch it as it cooks to make sure you don’t overdo it.)
